Welcome to the 2022 Symposium on Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine. We are thrilled to be providing this years symposium in the form of Internet Enduring Material. Now in its fourth year, the Symposium attracts a multi-specialty group of physicians and allied health professionals, who strive to learn the newest technologies and medical therapies. Improving outcomes for patients in need of wound care and/or Hyperbaric medicine is the vision and educational foundation for this conference. The 2022 Symposium on Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the collaboration of SynAptiv and MVS Woundcare & Hyperbarics. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

After completing this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the clinical impact of COVID -19 and current state of potential intervention for Hyperbaric treatments.
  • Explain the physiology and etiology of wound healing and the mechanisms of action of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).
  • Identify different wound types including pressure ulcers, arterial ulcers, venous ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, lymphedema, and surgical ulcers.
  • Discuss difficult to heal wounds and best approach to care delivery.
  • Discuss the current state of the art of hyperbaric medicine and how it benefits many wound care patients.
  •  Identify the ethical issues surrounding HBOT.
  • Discuss the business of wound care as it relates to billing and coding.
